by rahul 11/19/2009 5:43:03 AM
Not everyone will need this tool, but in case you have a Microsoft SQL Database Server and a lot of disk drives/SAN, you may choose to read on. Let’s assume you are a Database Administrator, and you have a lot of Disk Drives, and you have SQL Databases residing on quite a few of them. You know that a database file increases in size based on a specific setting and it is called, AutoGrow. Some of you would have it as x%, some x MB and some will have it set to different settings for different file... [More]

Smileys plugin for Windows Live Writer - Update

by rahul 6/17/2009 4:44:19 AM
This has been one of the really famous plug-ins that I wrote a while ago (more than 11K downloads as of 17th June, 2009). The intent was to use smileys in my posts easily from the blogging tool itself. Since I used Microsoft - Windows Live Writer (which IMHO, is the best blog editor currently) I was quite easily attracted by the plug-in model it exposed. Later on, I created more plug-ins which pretty much uses the same code base, called Fancy Bullets plug-in, and Quotations plug-in. I don’t w... [More]

by rahul 1/11/2009 3:43:33 AM
Requirement > You have a lot of play lists (m3u) and you want to burn all the songs in any play list to some media of your choice (CD, DVD, USB, etc). How do you do it currently? Well, I used to take a look at the file information and copy the files one by one manually. Recently, I wanted to burn a CD for my car audio, and had some 200 odd songs in my play list. It would have taken a long time for me, so I thought of spending a few minutes in writing this piece of code. My Solution >>&g... [More]

Folder Size utility to get the details of Folder

by rahul 11/7/2008 9:11:28 AM
To keep your Hard Drive in shape, you need to delete unnecessary files and defragment it at regular intervals. The challenge is, how to find out which folders are taking the major chunk (without going into each of the folder manually and looking at the file sizes)? I wrote this very basic utility to show exactly this information... Download the EXE...   To do download the code (and modify it if you wish ) hit the Download button below...   This is how it looks like...     U... [More]

Visual Studio 9 - More control over Recent Projects list in Start Page

by rahul 8/28/2008 5:02:59 AM
If you work with a lot of samples, the chances are quite likely that you will end up in a rather dirty list of Recent Projects List in Visual Studio. I'm personally quite nit-picky and I really hate it when I find something like this... Now... I don't know which of these Samples should I click on (since I have two in the list!). Anyway, there are multiple reasons why you would like to remove the junk entries from this list. One way is to open the Registry and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_US... [More]
